About This Day Tour
This is a genuine day on the mountain. From Marangu Gate at 1,860 m you follow the classic Marangu trail through dense montane rainforest to Mandara Hut at 2,720 m, with a possible extension to the Maundi Crater viewpoint for views towards Kenya. You are inside Kilimanjaro National Park with a licensed mountain guide, back at the gate the same afternoon. It is also the standard acclimatisation and trial hike for climbers arriving a day early.
Trekkers wanting a taste of Kilimanjaro, acclimatisation before a climb, and reasonably fit walkers.

Pickup in Moshi
Meet your mountain guide, check gear and drive to Marangu village and on to the park gate.

Park permits and registration handled for you at 1,860 m, plus a trail briefing.

Hike up through rainforest
About 8 km and 3–4 hours of steady climbing on a well-graded forest trail to Mandara Hut.

Mandara Hut and lunch
Packed lunch at 2,720 m, with the option to walk 15 minutes further to the Maundi Crater rim.
- 13:30
Descend to the gate
Two to three hours back down the same trail, easier going and good for wildlife spotting.
- 16:00
Drive back to Moshi
Sign out at the gate, then transfer to your hotel arriving around 17:00.
