Parks on the northern safari circuit

Serengeti National Park

14,750 km² of endless plains, big cats and the great wildebeest migration between June and October.

Read the guide

Cratère du Ngorongoro

A collapsed caldera holding roughly 25,000 large animals, including one of Tanzania's best chances of seeing black rhino.

Read the guide

Tarangire National Park

Baobab country with the largest dry-season elephant herds in northern Tanzania and over 500 recorded bird species.

Lac Manyara

Groundwater forest, a soda lake with flamingos, and the park's famous tree-climbing lions below the Rift Valley escarpment.

Best time to go on safari in Tanzania

June – October

Dry season & migration

Best game viewing overall. Sparse vegetation, animals concentrate at water, and the wildebeest herds move through the northern Serengeti.

January – February

Calving season

Short dry window in the southern Serengeti and Ndutu — hundreds of thousands of calves born, with predators close behind.

March – May

Green season

Lush landscapes, lowest prices and very few vehicles. Expect afternoon rain and some rough park tracks.

November – December

Short rains

Brief showers, excellent birding and good value. Game viewing in Tarangire and Ngorongoro stays strong.

Tanzania safari FAQs

Dois-je organiser moi-même mon transfert depuis l'aéroport ?

No. Airport pick-up and drop-off at Kilimanjaro International Airport are included in every safari package — we meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel. Group transfers can be arranged on request.

Combien coûte un safari ?

Prices depend on group size, number of days and accommodation level (budget, mid-range or luxury). Our packages include a professional English-speaking driver-guide, all park and conservation fees, a 4×4 Land Cruiser with pop-up roof, meals as per the itinerary, bottled water, government taxes and hotel transfers.

À quoi ressemble une journée type en safari ?

An early morning game drive when animals are most active, brunch or lunch, some rest, then an afternoon or sunset game drive. Each park is different — the Serengeti gives you vast plains and big cats, while Tarangire is elephants and baobabs.

Puis-je me promener à pied à l'intérieur des parcs nationaux ?

Generally no — for your safety you stay in the vehicle unless your guide says otherwise. Guided walking safaris are possible in selected areas such as Tarangire, Lake Manyara and parts of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

À quoi ressemblent les routes, et y aura-t-il de la poussière ?

Park tracks can be rough, bumpy and dusty, especially in the dry season. Bring sunglasses, a hat and a light scarf, and keep cameras in a sealed bag. If you have back problems, a small cushion or back brace makes a big difference.

Qu'en est-il des toilettes en brousse ?

Most parks have designated public restrooms at gates and picnic sites. If you're far from one, your guide will find a safe, private spot — our guides handle this discreetly and without fuss.

Et si j'ai un régime alimentaire particulier ?

No problem. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free and halal diets as well as allergies — just tell us in advance so the camps and our cooks can prepare for you.

Que se passe-t-il si je tombe malade ou me blesse pendant le safari ?

Our guides carry a first-aid kit and are in constant radio and phone contact with the office. In an emergency we arrange immediate assistance or evacuation to the nearest medical facility — we are an AMREF Flying Doctors partner. Valid travel and medical insurance is strongly recommended.
